Lizards Tail We are not currently taking online orders. To order please call 724-869-3317. We are Western Pennsylvania's PREMIERE pond and water garden supplier. |
DescriptionLizard's Tail, Saururus cernuus, species are know for their heart-shaped leaves that appear on tall stems growing from creeping rhizomes. The plant forms dense colonies of upright stems topped with drooping spikes of white flowers. Both the flowers and stems are aromatic, with a fragrance similar to vanilla. Although lizard's tail will withstand a frost, they do not like being frozen in the pond. Be sure to place them in deeper water during winter so that the rhizomes won't freeze. Well suited to the water garden, providing a tall backdrop for smaller plants.
